Same. I'm going to miss certain features, but they're not enough to keep me in the Stockholm Syndrome Distortion Field™.

Would love to hear which bunq features you will miss!

Primarily flexibility of creating ‘real’ separate accounts. Control on who can take money from your account. Rock solid V2 design. They cracked banking UI / UX and then deleted it. Most of what Bunq does, I can do with old banks, but not as easy as Bunq offered it.

Care to elaborate on why separate IBANs (as opposed to just proprietary “buckets”) matter for money mgmt?

You can’t pay from a proprietary bucket when paying for food at restaurants, when checking out from hotels etc. You’d have to move money from the bucket to the payables account ^^

couldn’t you just “link” your card to the “restaurant bucket” (in the app) right before making your payment?

That could work. And incoming transfers or direct debits could go to an “inbox” before you route them to the correct bucket. Bit of extra administration though

I’m lacking detailed knowledge of SDD but doesn’t it usually involve a bank-side authorization step? (In which case, the administration could be dealt with there.)

A bank customer doesn’t have to authorize direct debits, but a bank could certainly choose to require it

a bank customer has to sign a mandate, isn’t it? in a digital env this is usually done via federated bank auth, afaik. or is that just an nl thing?

I would be surprised if the four corner model where you are redirected to the bank website is used for more than 10% of direct debits in the Netherlands
