Which companies had to radically localize their products? 

Google (and Facebook to some extent) dictated how new markets used their products while Airbnb and Netflix had to rethink core experiences.

The actual Uber product is the transport service delivered in each market, which is very different from China to India and the US. The app itself is a thin, global layer that makes everything work and is barely localized.
