Federal law actually. And I think it makes sense, but why does this higher pay not disincentivize employers to reduce overtime hours?
I just read somewhere that overtime does not require pension contribution and hence public employer has incentive to ask overtime instead of hiring second person whose base pay also needs pension contribution
