To be fair, the Fed does have discounts available for wire transfers. Drops from $0.84 to $0.165 if you have over 90k transfers per month. Still 80x ECB. The problem is in your assumption that a "free market" exists here. It doesn't. The market is regulated six ways from Sunday. As such, it's a socialist market system in operation here in the USA. Blockchain fixes this.
