I guess the difference is also that working for the government is actually a pretty well-paid and prestigious job in Singapore.

True, that’s another difference. Though I didn’t intent to equate government with low potential, but rather wouldn’t want the next Van Gogh or Einstein to feel like they should go into the army or public service
