Random Q: They say CV19 incubation period is 5-14 days before you see symptoms (maybe 28 days depending who you ask)... but whats amount of time required for it to be detected via test? eg. if a proactive healthy person takes test, can it be detected within 24-48hr of infection?

Asking because I’m worried about my dad coming to NYC, spending 2 days here then home and visiting my Grandma in nursing home back in Boston. He’s not gonna have symptoms, he’s not gonna be able to get tested, and he can’t NOT see my grandma for 2 wks while he waits for symptoms

... so what is the play here? Just tell him NOT to come to NYC until he’s sure that (a) he can get tested in Massachusetts w/out symptoms & (b) get tested without 2-5 day wait & (c) even if he can get tested w/out symptoms, the test works within 24hr (etc) of possible exposure??
