San Francisco housing is too expensive, so it should come down. However, that will reduce the wealth of a large group of homeowners. Is there a case study of a city that managed that process well?

Berlin just freezed rents. Landlords and housing corps are kicking and screaming but they can go to hell as far as a majority of this city is concerned.

I’m not necessarily against rent control, but it rarely works out well if it doesn’t come with increased building, public transport improvements, etc. Supply and demand are real.

Sure but the reverse: waiting for building without rent control creates huge unnecessary displacement.

Fair, but looks like Berlin hasn’t committed to actually building anything at this point.
