Basic data that I've scraped together suggest that Dutch kids (about half of whom cycle to school) have 1/2 the obesity rate of UK kids, who mostly don't. Is there a causal link (and are my findings accurate)?

Seems about right - from quick online check of stats 13-14% in NL vs. 28% in UK and that's general popln. Anecdotally I've been to NL a lot with work over last few years & you can see the difference. People just keep active.
