There's a reason for this though, due to NZ's small population, western-like culture, and being technologically advanced makes it the perfect testing ground for new technologies.
Payment requests work well now. Transfers are instant. ING app is good. Apple Pay is supported. What’s missing?

French banks on the other hand… have terrible apps. Hard to transfer money. Weird security rules.

ha ha yes–in Canada you can't add a message to a transfer at all. Just no context money flying around!

I’m very aware (after making payments work globally for Uber for 5 years), but that’s mostly inertia not great system design. Build iDeal for the eurozone and all of the sudden it’s a seriously supported option. Card networks are so hacked together.
