They used to have quite a few companies actually: Wells Fargo, Charles Schwab, Levi Strauss, Chevron, PG&E, Gap, Sephora US, Williams-Sonoma, Bank of America, Bechtel, McKesson. Many got pushed out by the housing crisis (and taxes) though.

The taxes are so high tech is the only kind of company, due to the margins, that can operate here despite the costs.

I suspect it’s 90% housing (and thus wages), 10% tax issue.
