The UK really throws a wrench in the view that multiparty democracy fixes everything, or even very much. Whatever winds are buffeting Western democracies, they're more than powerful enough to overwhelm differences in electoral systems.

Yes, but they're definitely a multiparty democracy. I can think of better ways to structure it, but I think a lot of European performance should make us humble about the view that two-party duopoly is the core problem.

until you combine proportional representation with more than one party, youre still in a plurality that is resented by a majority. prorep allows a state where most ppl had the leader as their top 1-3

Completely agree with Jesse. It is a Multiparty system 'against all odds' and due to strong regional parties.
