People say that asexual people don't face discrimination (and thus don't belong in the LGBTQ+ community). Here's a reply for that: A 2012 study of bias among college students, for example, found that asexuals were “viewed as less human, and less valued as contact partners..."

"I became an example of asexual representation, and that's when the problems started. After all, I wasn't the 'right kind' of asexual representation." New article for about what's REALLY so contentious about me being a Black asexual model.

  8. We know what the police are like but teachers also fall into the realm of authority figures who have been demonising Black students since they declared us "mentally subnormal" in the 50s and 60s. I didn't feel safe in school for most of my education. I hope this girl is alright.

  9. This is disgusting but not surprising, not if you're aware of how unprotected Black kids - particularly Black girls - are in British schools. Institutional racism isn't just the police and it doesn't just play out in court rooms. It impacts Black people much earlier than that.

Met Police apologises to black schoolgirl, 15, who was stripsearched while menstruating after teachers smelt cannabis. In breach of guidelines, officers did not get appropriate adult to oversee + mother wasn't told. Review found that search was wrong + racism "likely a factor"

  12. I'm tired of being used as a "ace diversity symbol" by those who have a complete disregard for racism I experience in this community. It's a recurring pattern whenever I dare to mention race. I'm a human, not a platform or a token. It's not 'inclusive' if you're not listening.

  13. The same goes for those who say that I'd be more useful and palatable to them if I changed some aspect of myself or my work, including my appearence or the platforms I work with. I'm not a marionette. And yes it is white aces who do this 99% of the time.

  14. You're welcome to say "hey, it would be interesting if you covered this in an article/talk/project" but you're not necessarily entitled to an answer and I'm definitely not obligated to do it, because there's likely a good reason why I haven't done it. I'm not limitless.

  15. It seems that some are still confused by the distinction. My work serves the ace & aro cause. I *do not* serve any individual. Activist ≠ servant. My usefulness is not compulsory, it's voluntary. No one is entitled to more than what I choose to give, which is already a lot.

  16. I politely ask white aspecs to stop approaching me with commands about what further work I "need" to be doing to meet their standards & satisfy them in particular. I don't *need* to do anymore than what I'm doing. I'm doing what I have the insight and capacity to do.
