Is “sovereign” a left wing concept? (asking honestly)

Homo Sacer makes the task of overcoming sovereignty so very difficult. If sov./HS couple is traced back to the presuppositional structure of thought it will take nothing less than the invention of new language & thought structures. I am hoping Use of Bodies will have more leads.

I have been reading Agamben for several years now & I have the hardest time with his concepts. I have read much of the secondary literature around the Homi Sacer series to get a sense of how these concepts can be built on & I see the same sense of difficulty there.

*Homo* Sacer. I only call friends Homi Sacer! I was taught this book by one of Agamben's English translators. He read from the Italian version in the lecture to point to places of hope in a book that mostly creates a sense of despair. & contrasted this with Means Without End.
