Who the heck believes that Nietzsche favours the terror response to the demon's suggestion? That's exactly what is supposed to be overcome in this scenario!

Klossowski charts the development of Nietzsche’s ideas rather than stating them as preconceived conclusions. Yes this terror is overcome, but Nietzsche was nonetheless troubled by an insight which would undo its own foundations (his coherent identity evaporating in infinity).

The eternal recurrence is a type of infinity but as repetition you can argue that the finite elements, the individual moments and even a person's identity could (and would) remain insoluble.

There is a poem by Nietzsche which disagrees with this interpretation, but if we remember what Nietzsche said about poetry we can argue that this question remains open. (Though my point was genuinely to ask who is the author referring to?)

Oh, it’s a citation of Lou Andreas-Salomé.
