Listed purely as writers—not necessarily my favourite works—but the writing that most draws me in: Virginia Woolf, Christine Brooke-Rose, William Blake, Samuel Beckett, Mervyn Peake.
-
so you would consider philosophers separately?
-
Partly yes, and most of my favourite philosophers are in translation, so I can’t really assess their writing.
-
really? sometimes i feel that way, but if i were to draw up a list, i feel at least half would be in translation
-
That’s fair. Thinking of it that way, Deleuze & Guattari, Walter Benjamin, and Maurice Blanchot would have been somewhere on the list.

That’s a tough one, but here it goes: —Cambrian explosion —The first time a caveperson got scared by lightning and told the whole tribe about it —1177 BC —Publication of Spinoza’s Ethics —Paris Commune
