After the launch of Vivid we received user feedback about issues with certain video players. We’ve been testing our new brightness engine Clarity Mode over the summer as an Experimental feature in the app, and so far it has solved all issues we’ve had reports about!

This update also includes the first implementation of 🌙 Eclipse Mode, which lets just _lower_ the brightness of your screen. Useful for when you’re working in a dark room at night! We’ve got more updates coming for this soon. You can enable it from the menu bar.

Our biggest request since launch has been an iOS version of Vivid. While it's not possible to make a version of Vivid that makes the entire phone brighter across all apps, we're also releasing Vivid Browser today for free.

And Vivid is now available on the Mac App Store! It’s the exact same version as the one we sell on our own website except for one minor UI different. If you prefer getting your apps from the App Store, grab it here (although it's a bit more expensive)

Nice update! I like the fact that the setting levels are only on one line. Also, it's great that the brightness level doesn't drop when browsing from an app to another in full screen mode. Can I use my license on the new Mac App or do I need to stay on the version from the web?

Your license works for the version you purchased there. The Mac App Store version is not 100% the same so it's better to stay on your version 🙂
