It's gross seeing so many root against Tesla. Be the person on the side of the climate and innovation, not the person hoping to make money on puts. Also, betting against Elon is historically a mistake...and the best product usually wins.

Someone asked me to do an explainer for why we only see one side of the Moon, showing that it still rotates. Well, accumulating so many animations now that I can say "here's one I made earlier!" –

  4. Anyone ever done any longevity life insurance for yourself? E.g.: - frozen your stem cells - connectome mapping - put a clause in your will to be cryo-frozen upon fatal injury - etc If so, I'd love to know if you liked it or not! 👍👎 Feel free to DM me if you prefer privacy

If we could magically see ppl's hypocritical actions, we'd lose faith in humanity If we could magically see the experiences that led to ppl's flaws, we'd be more compassionate Rn we're merely in the era where ppl are publicizing their private thoughts, & we're losing our minds

  6. Pretty sure all the people running popular brands on Twitter could be replaced at this point by bots who just tweet the latest 50 memes

finally, we covered what R0 does/ doesn't mean, what it measures, how nuanced it is I *wish* the below piece had been published before we recorded our episode, but it only came out yest (I still included in background readings, since it's good)

  9. Just finished reading ‘Steve Jobs & the Next Big Thing’ This is not a happy book. It’s a point-in-time telling during the last year of NeXT *before* Jobs returned to Apple NeXT was a failure. Jobs wasn’t a guarantee A sobering account of many Apple & NeXT failures. I liked it!

  10. This is it. The pinnacle of our technology. We have peaked.

  11. We need to build better bodies... a Human Body 2.0 We die. We get sick. We get injured. This may sound crazy but evolution won’t get us there fast enough — it’s up to us now. And we need to move *much* faster. Every moment we don’t is another sad story.

  12. Conversation is not a competition. You’re not trying to win. You’re trying to learn. As I get older, I see “mental flexing” more... where you flex how smart you are on someone else, to feel superior or better. It’s not unique to tech, but it’s prevalent in tech. Be kind.

  15. "Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave." It often gets overlooked in Rutger Hauer's supreme "Time to die..." monologue, but this quote is terrifyingly relevant.

  16. Am I the odd one out for thinking people on bikes & scooters *without* helmets look goofy? Helmets don’t look goofy! Being a tryhard coolio looks goofy 🤪

  17. I wonder if there’s a way we can accelerate progress... Specifically progress we already “know” will happen in the next 100 years Eg - fuller human rights - animal rights - more drug legalization Can we “pull forward” these new rules vs. waiting for resistors to quit/die off?

  18. Side note: I've been very sick all week (likely unrelated to the carbon monoxide thing) so it just feels good to tweet again 😊 I like thinking in public!

  19. If you traveled far into the future, you'd be in shock, but it'd wear off. Humans normalize to whatever reality surrounds us. Ex: why don't we freak out when we see planes? Humans 1,000 years ago would have, but we don't today. Our brains didn't change. We normalized planes.

  20. Update: my blood oxygen levels are fine 🩸🧪 Turns out even carbon monoxide can't stop me! Thank you to everyone who messaged me ❤️ This was a small (crazy ;) thing, but still it really means a lot

  21. TIL carbon monoxide blood testing is done thru the wrist. Which means it goes thru tendon. So that was fun. (Don’t worry I’ll spare the photos.)
