Don’t ask for customers to state home address out loud for any reason. Don’t ask customers for reason for return out loud if it’s medications or personal items; have a list of reasons to check off printed on a form or receipt.

Stores need to stop requiring customers say personal information out loud in lines filled w/ strangers. Don’t ask a name for a drink, assign a number. Don’t ask for phone number to track their spending relative to area average income (while pretending it’s solely for discounts).

A lot of stores track customer history, in order to find out what products to recommend them. My sister works at such a store, and is obliged to ask for their customer account even when they're just buying something small.
