"The invasion of Iraq was a textbook example of what was called at the Nuremberg Tribunal 'the supreme international crime of aggression'. No justification whatsoever."
Noam Chomsky, to me, ahead of the Iraq war's 20th anniversary.
Watch/share:
“The film draws from hours of previously unseen footage shot by Sam Pollard in the 1980s-90s including interviews, performances in studio, intimate scenes of life; Nearly ten hours of audio interviews with Max recalling his entire life story…”
I met Steve Sostak 25 yrs ago on my first tour. We played several shows together, crashed on the same floors, and shared lots of laughs. I’m sorry our paths won’t cross again, but I’m grateful he was a presence in my formative years. RIP
Steve Sostak was an integral part of the Chicago band scene for a good while and always a bright spot. Good bands, good guy. He played pickup baseball and on the CMBA Red Sox with a bunch of other music guys, always a good hang there as well. Requiescat.

Avatar 2 was not my thing, although there were beautiful scenes underwater. Seeing these automatic weapons blasting, watching long hours of violence and people fucking shooting whales. Please just show me beauty, the world’s too hard without getting brain rattled by imax gunfire
Spotify, Pitchfork, Ticketmaster, The Grammies...they have their definition of music. It is fine. It’s not the only one. Music can have other purposes than profit and winning. Or, whether it can or not, it did and it does and it will. Capitalism’s idea of music is a blip.
Every now and then I find myself wishing very hard that there is a hereafter and tonight is one of those times. Otherwise the nothingness, the emptiness are too hard to bear. 💙💔💙
So sad to hear about Jeremiah Green. We only met once a few years ago, he was a lovely fellow and as drummers we had an instant connection.
I cherish that memory with love to his family and friends. RIP.
The weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful.
See you tonight. A casual festive gathering. See and make friends. Carpool and/or walk - parking is tight.
Peace on earth. ❤️🥁❤️
We re-posted our conversations with Mimi Parker (from 2017) and DH Peligro (from 2015). Both wonderful people, both gone too soon. http://thetrapset.net
I was supposed to do a talk about drums….instead I told the truth. I’ve never in my life been this open about the events in my life. twitter.com/thetrapset/sta…
This conversation between @questlove & @thetrapset is wonderfully, brutally honest about #hustle culture, therapy, self loathing and care, and the hard work of being human.
Watching Twitter implode is I hope taken by all in music as a warning about Spotify - consolidation is not healthy, consolidation in the hands of billionaires who don’t care about the labor that made them rich is… where we are
So sad to hear my favourite singer Mimi Parker, no longer with us.
Thank God I got to meet her and share a laugh earlier this year after Low’s show at St.John at Hackney.
Best show - best band - Mimi was my ‘bestie’.
XCH
Mimi Parker. A monumental songwriter, a brilliant drummer, a wonderful person. In 2017, I was moving into an apartment in downtown LA. Low was playing at a theater down the street. Mimi was gracious enough to stop by and tell me about her life. https://thetrapset.net/128-mimi-parker-low/…
Friends, it’s hard to put the universe into language and into a short message, but
She passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours. Keep her name close and sacred. Share this moment with someone who needs you. Love is indeed the most important thing.
Dizzy Gillespie's "A Night in Tunisia," recorded by Sonny Rollins with bassist Wilbur Ware and drummer Elvin Jones for the Blue Note album A Night at the Village Vanguard on this day in 1957.
It seems incredible that my second solo album “Ennismore” was released 50 years ago this month!!!!
Strangely in one moment the sessions seem like only last week and then suddenly without warning they fade far away into another lifetime.
