Google Books is the most frustrating product I use on a regular basis. It’s *almost* incredible (search all books instantly!). But instead it feels like what you’d get if JSTOR ran Wikipedia.

When fascism comes uninvited to your house - just got a couple of "workers" from the BBMP come in asking about property details, ownership details etc. The whole country is in dire straits, and they have money to spend on such a ridiculous and maliciious activity? Well, fuck me.

Unpopular opinion: Too many people praise “learning.” MAKING things is a better use of time. Building an audience around your interests is THE cheat code. Write articles. Record videos. Publish podcasts. Plus, making things will make you learn faster anyways.

I'm more and more convinced that sleeping enough, working reasonable hours and keeping stress in check is not just happier and healthier but more productive. You will get *more* done in an *absolute* sense—not just per hour.

I admire the earnest optimism of 30 year old programmers writing solemn thinkpieces about important lessons they’ve learned as a “mid-career engineer”, implying they’re going to retire in their 40s

How to rebuild Spotlight index - . A hack if ever I saw one! Surprised that it's Apple though... maybe my perception of Apple impeccability was flawed to begin with.

Reddit in 2020 is far different from that in 2009. A veritable cesspool of bigotry, authoritarianism, intolerance towards opposing points of view, and quickly diminishing value as a social networking platform. Time to jump the sinking ship.

Wow, Amazon's captcha system is amazing - illegible letters, stunted inaudible clips in the audio version. Forget the future - the present is already dystopian.

It's great to see the recent interest in 'Simple Haskell'. My (not so secret) plan has been to use Haskell 98 throughout my career, as there is still a vast amount of interesting and useful new ideas to explore in this setting. Hope to see more people embracing simplicity too.
