0.96. Let that sink in. Fewer babies being born in South Korea than Poland.https://twitter.com/NicoleBarbaro/status/1037096974644854787 …

Women in South Korea marry at 30 yo and have their first child at nearly 32 yo. The average number of babies born per woman of reproductive age is due to be as low as 0.96 this year, falling below one for the first time in history. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/03/south-koreas-fertility-rate-set-to-hit-record-low …

Japan is always mentioned as the country with a crazy low birth rate, but Taiwan and South Korea have had even lower birth rates for quite a few years now. They won't have a young consumer class in 10-20 years.

Exactly. Chinese-derived cultures have shown themselves to be even more fragile under modernity than Japan.

Asians are especially prone to cutthroat status competition. This means even fewer have the leisure, money, or social standing to have kids. A strong central authority has to put boundaries on competition or it's a race to the bottom for everyone.

And yes, there has to be some absolute limits on social climbing or nothing gets done as everyone tries to get ahead.

Don't worry. Kim Jong Un will conquer the weak and decadent South and restore sanity to Korea.

Feels good that a whole country up there is even worse than HK, huh. Their women look better tho.

Whatever. HK isn't a natural, organic society anyway. It will be destroyed when the dormant 3rd world diversity gets the signal to begin their conquest. The local population will be too weak and pathetic and feminized to offer any resistance.

Poland's population is nearly 40 mil. people. What is impressive is that fewer babies are born in South Korea than North Korea which is not much more populous than the infamous Chinese province Taiwan.
