She may not be *completely* right (China has had one of the oldest civilizations known), but is she really that wrong? The age of exploration was kicked off by Europeans.

Some Europeans, I should add. Quite besides the point though.
-
The point being?
-
That "dominating the world" was a contingent historical event only weakly related to IQ.
-
But that's exactly what Alessa said.
-
No it’s not. Certainly not ‘exactly’! IQ is extremely important, even if it’s not everything that matters. And IQ was literally invented in the most prosperous periods in human history. Unless she thinks that old Rome was better than the 1950s.
-
Important to what? Clearly, it's not *that* important to the 'world domination' variable as you just stated.
-
But who cares? It's world domination what’s not that important. IQ (among other things, but you *need* high IQ) is the basis of a rich and orderly society. At this rate this Alessandra chick is going to introduce her black gf in no time.

I don’t see what you mean

Dumb observation underscores importance of IQ
-
I share her sentiment, the IQ talk coming out of this sphere is totally autistic and cold when you hear it out loud. Just listened to a luke ford video for a few minutes and had to shut it off because the IQ talk is just revolting
-
I can agree with that. But Europe is getting dumb immigrants by the boatload every day. We need more IQ talk, not less.
-
Dwelling on IQ can be unseemly, but its opposite is also absurd, which now governs international migration - a clear preference for the most pathetic "wretched refuse," rolling out the red carpet for moochers, imbeciles, insane & criminal fleeing prosecution...
-
...while high potential candidates, who are reluctant to cross the border illegally, preferring to play by the rules, hence face more obstacles & bureaucratic chicanery.

IQ is a measure of intelligence. Surely no one would argue that intelligence - individual, collective and increasingly machinic - isn't instrumental in domination. And increasingly so, as hyper-modernity accelerates and intelligence migrates the human.
-
Necessary but not sufficient. China didn't have an environment where world domination was economically feasible, so they burnt their ships. Augustus wanted a border at the Elbe but then retreated to the Rhine.

Her whole 'Meds used to rule the world and Nordics stole our greatness away' is getting ridiculous. Many such cases unfortunately. With this mentality med countries will end up being full on 3rd world shitholes.
-
Understanding why Nordics surpassed Meds would require her to accept that long term civilizational trends are driven largely by eugenics and dysgenics.

Good Lord, that whole thread is painful to read. People haven't cared about IQ for most of history because the concept *didn't exist*. And the idea of "cognitive oppression" is a new level of ressentiment. We need to make the world safe for dumb people!
-
The rewards of intelligence were capped for various reasons. E.g impressing your friends at the seminary doesn't make very much money. The total sum of knowledge for most fields was something an ordinary person could learn in a few years. Trade was hard.
-
The point is that we shouldn't care about how low IQ people feel about society, just like we shouldn't care about any supposedly oppressed class.
