but the Chinese do extract plenty of resources from Africa, don't they?

Like everyone else. It's not like stuff hasn't been traded for decades.

I dunno, I think this is will work out well for them in the long run, as long as they win the technology war. But i agree that they hire the dumbest people as local lackeys
-
They are not winning the technology war. Barely catching up in software.

Ahh, I was under the impression that they are almost on par with the US when it came to robotics and AI, although i don't buy into the hype on AI.http://www.unz.com/akarlin/sinotriumph/ …

They still depend mostly on Japanese and German machinery. They won't be leading any time soon. But yeah they're doing OK.

The United States did the same thing during the Cold War. Does a lot of it still. Britain maintained colonies all over the world during its imperial peak. It has nothing to do with communism.
-
The Romans had colonies in many more places than they “needed”. The people who didn’t always want to expand didn’t leave any descendants.
-
I’m guessing you want America to expand, because you’re American, so you’re ridiculing China’s expansion efforts. I don’t know you, but that’s what it soudns like. That sort of criticism is also proof that what the Chinese doing is natural.
-
I'm not American. Chinese expansion efforts have been dumb. I actually wish China had a proper strategy to confront the US instead of just wasting money.
