BBC guys talking about the importance of music in building morale in going into battle, and especially to precede you… uh… guys it’s not the 1600s

There must be something about being at a certain point in history when your ceremonial attire is so far removed from everyday or even high formal attire, that ceremonies can’t help but feel anachronistic and entirely divorced from their times.

Why are these kids chanting “finance”? Is this an elaborate used card dealership ad?

Also, unrelated, here is me in my last stretch doing the quiz at , which my beloved ex-colleague sent me the other day. Miss that crew (and my pirate quiz hat), even as I enjoy settling here.

Have very happily started my new role this week with as Digital Art Editor with a great team of people!
It’s been a whirlwind getting here (ie. to London) and getting set up, but it’s lovely to be settling in.

(I do have a new account now, but it doesn't happen overnight and I could just be travelling and have swapped SIMs. An authenticator app would also be so much more secure)

I've been a big fan of ING for a long time, but they've been a bit useless since I've told them I've moving o/s.
Shut down SMS codes but still requiring them for transfers, no 3rd party code verification options, blocking any online purchase unless I call to approve... maddening

They do feel like they're settling into a comfortable middle age at this point, which honestly of all bands this feels most appropriate for

New National is a really nice consolidation of their last few albums, and feels like it has more of a spine than I Am Easy To Find, despite perhaps being softer?
Thus far reminds me more of High Violet than most albums, though it misses the harsh metallic clang of a Lemonworld.

It's our biggest "probably just don't say anything actually" day of the year.

I could be wildly wrong, but I actually can't see Tucker Carlson maintaining a significant audience without the weight of Fox behind him.
He's also burned the bridges of being the polite firebrand he was on other networks prior to having his own show.

The checkmark on the dril account has now been removed again, and then I think it was added for a minute, then removed again. It's like a Looney Tunes cartoon but one side is some shitposter on his laptop and the other side is the richest man on the planet in corporate HQ fuming

I do think it's important to continue pushing back against this stuff hard. The AI-Curious people in workplaces need to feel like dorks. This isn't a fun thing to theorize about, it's a scam that can convince your boss to liquidate your entire department

In corporate settings, the whole role of copywriting is to make your brand recognizable and memorable. When everybody has the same bad AI copywriter, they'll become completely indiscernible from each other.

The AI Writing thing is just pivot to video all over again, a bunch of dead-eyed corporate types willing to listen to any snake oil salesman who offers them higher potential profits. It'll crash in a year but scuttle hundreds of livelihoods before it does.

It's actually very odd to see my old work is not verified. Congratulations, finally, you broke the thing Elon.
Yay, who knows what is what and who is who, it's a pointless playground.
Good work, I guess.

FACT: With the exception of government officials and a few orgs willing to pay Musk thousands, there is no more verification on Twitter anymore.
There are people who pay Musk $8/month and people who don't. That's it.

oh hey I guess we're all not verified anymore. It's cool and odd to see legit celeb tweeters no longer with the blue tick. Who are these people? What is their deal?

Anyone programming phone IVRs: you never need to tell people that your options "have recently changed", it's a vanishingly small amount of people calling you that know the options by heart and will be startled by any change to your options.

Just got an email telling me Twitter has changed its corporate name to X Corp, though the platform will still be called Twitter. I'm getting the same feeling of concern you have when an unstable friend who is going through tough times cuts all their hair off.

Appalling. so cruel. so fucked up. if not now, when? how much longer will the Albanese government keep people living in poverty? Absolutely indefensible. Poverty is a political choice. I don’t want to hear @AlboMP talk about his log cabin story anymore. raise the damn rate now! twitter.com/Paul_Karp/stat…

My partner is vegan, and I’ve gotta say that while it’s not super easy to find stuff in Paris it’s also not hard to eat incredibly well. Have had some amazing food (I have also had butter pastries and cheese etc).

My partner discovered (through a forwarded fine) that people on Carshare have found a rort where they don't pay for a parking permit: whoever is the last person to use and park your car is responsible for the fine.
Which... is definitely some poor policy writing.
