.@jaketapper: "You said also that a mileage tax showed, 'a lot of promise' as a way to help pay for the [infrastructure] plan ... Is that under consideration?"
Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg: "No, that's not part of the conversation about this infrastructure bill."

It depends where they live. If they live in dense urban communities this probably won’t hurt them at all. In rural, perhaps.

I like you but this is going to kill low income - middle class people.
Here in CT we already pay some of the highest gas taxes both federal & state. Honestly, I'm tired of giving up things just to put gas in my car.

There are massive corporations making *huge* profits off America's crumbling infrastructure.
Tax them to fix it.

While this sounds good it will hurt poor people in rural areas. I lived in Vernon TX where the closest decent medical care was an hour drive. I had to drive 4 hours for my cancer treatment.

I don't think he's thought this out very well. Housing costs in Nashville is causing ppl to move miles away to find affordable housing. This would hit those who could ill afford it hard as there is NO public transportation to take advantage of. This would hit rural areas hard.

You mean it would disproportionately hit people who vote overwhelmingly for the other party?
Oh, somehow I think he has thought this out...
