This would be a huge mistake It would kill discoverability because the section would be much lower overall on Twitch which would result in less browsing viewers It's better to have one strong section than two weak ones
What about once inside of the World of Warcraft section you could filter Classic or Retail? Similar to what other games have done like CSGO with maps, PUBG with players remaining, etc.

A tag for retail and classic seems like a great idea and now that I'm thinking of it I cant see any negatives to that

Yeah I think Asmon kind of nails it in the general aspect thinking over things, but a retail/classic tag to sort inside the category would be amazing.
