Good on you for standing your ground. Hopefully I'll be there one day. I've yet to make any $$ in esports. So it's been a labor of love. Esports is still trying to evolve passed it's grassroots of the early years. But there are some people who are still stuck in the past.

I honestly don't think it's ever worth doing a casting gig for free unless it's a community cast (on your own channels). Part of the problem with accepting unpaid work is you'll find it very hard to convince those people to pay you in the future

Really depends on what you're commentating. It's not a realistic expectation to be paid to cast qualifiers and the following you can gain from doing them on your own media can be helpful. That being said any tournament/league (beyond the qualifier) shouldn't be done for free

Full stop and at that point 'just' doing it on your channel is not fair compensation
