Some of these players are kids for the most part or young adults. Sure they dont have a spot forever but wouldn't you, as an org, want the best for your players all around? Would you sign someone, knowing you're going to get rid of them very soon.. and not inform them?

A lot of org will likely want the best for their own org, esports is still pretty vague overall and as you said, a lot of players are young so they're easy to fuck over. Orgs need to make profit and with the fast evolution of the scene; most orgs will focus on short them gain.

Orgs like C9 are known for their performance, not for how they treat their players. The only org that's universally known to put players above all else is Astralis. And while that's important, it doesn't seem to be vital to an organisation's image.

You should, by all means, follow your dreams. But don't get lost in them, be realistic, read your contracts thoroughly, think about your steps in case of a worst-case-scenario. Know what you're entitled to, and know how you can be left out; then make a plan of how to get back in.

How about these orgs provide actual contracts? You understand if these kids did what they should for contracts, there would be no esports. They aren't going to give guarantees and if these young adults aren't willing to take a chance then these orgs will not be top tier.

Organisations are unfortunately not founded for the sole purpose of giving players a job, they're founded to make profit. They're not moral beings, you are, players need to take care of themselves, as should talent, admins, content creators. It's not ideal but that's reality atm.

And orgs will heavily reconsider when no player will sign unless they have a signing bonus and termination cost. And no org will sign that due to the money. So.. either orgs start being ran like actual companies or start liking bottom tier talent.

Or players take a chance and sign with a back-up plan in their pocket 😉 and we've come full circle in this convo.

It’s like how academic counselors tell sports athletes trying to make it to the pro leagues to get their degree. Never set yourself up to be in a position to have to ask “well damn, what am I supposed to do now?” This applies in so many areas of life.

So is that the excuse to abuse and mislead these young adults with improper contractual agreements? Is that what's going on? Let's find an excuse to let these orgs abuse these kids to get what they want. If it was the other way around.. there would be no esports.

I’d be very hesitant to say that these orgs are intentionally taking advantage of players. Players on esports teams are just in an incredibly volatile environment when metas change, other players skills surpass their own, or team dynamics shift away from progress.

I would absolutely call it intentional. You sign a player, knowing you're going to replace him with another player, when that player is ready. You know this, you do this, and you dont inform the original signer. That's intentional homeboy. And you're in support of it. I'm done
