I haven't run the numbers, but even in previous APL when it was 100% you had to perform the same in the upper lobby which balanced it out. I don't recall seeing huge upsets in the points at the end of that season.
Yeah it would be hard to achieve the "optimum" points per difficulty without getting promoted back up into Alpha as well. Wouldn't be easy to reliably use a strategy like this to gain an advantage.
