I hate making Boomer jokes, but I read a comment about how this could be related to the government regulations on kids channels....so basically, old people in Congress that are out of touch with the real world, maybe???

That's a law that goes way back to 2000. I think it's one of the reasons why you have to be 13 to have any social media account. The problem is YouTube collects data whether you're signed in or not for both the trending tab and the kind of ads you get. Including kids adverts.

I was talking more about the recent regulations that resulted in YTs recent fine. I dont even remember what social media aside from maybe MySpace. I guess Neopets and OG Runescaoe were around then, now that I think about what sites I used back in the day.
