If the song owners don't want their content monetized, they can just claim it and earn money from it. If they don't want CP to use them at all, they can ask them to delete the video instead of putting a strike.

But the artists aren't even to blame at this point. YouTube is automatically denying everything from Circle People, despite all disputes they've had with record labels cleared. They cannot communicate anymore and thus the strikes stay.

Yea I thought so. It's a shame that YouTube has become like this, although I still think it a little strange to be earning money from content that is technically not your own, even excluding the music

That is why that is up to the actual record labels. They aren't trying to escape claims from artists as long as they don't block them.

No, I just meant the whole idea of monetizing the plays. Since it's not their plays or anything I don't see why they should earn money from it. I think of it like earning money off stream highlights (which in some cases it is). It's not theirs, why should they make money off it?

they put effort and time into uploading and searching for plays. just that is enough reason for them to get something back. besides they actually make sure it's ok with the players that they do which proves their good intentions

Effort doesn't override the actual owner of the content's rights to their content. It's like when a person redraws an artist's work exactly. Yes they put effort but it still isn't theirs. But if they make sure it's ok with the players then it's fine. Thanks for clarifying

lmao those record labels earn all the money of the video which contains like 10 seconds of the song being played accidentally in the background

Doesn't the song play when the play is active? So that's most of the video? Unless you're talking about mismatched claims, which would make more sense since I've had videos striked for songs not even in there

i should have said "even if". remember tokaku got a claim on her despacito video? no copyrighted music found and they manually claimed it.

Yea that's what I mean. It's been like this for several years and idk if they've done anything to change it.
