    ..then go for it but note that constantly opening and closing accounts could affect your credit utilization rate poorly. Try using a spreadsheet to keep track if you have more than 4 cards especially if you don’t use them often.

    If your score does drop, it is typically not significant and as long as you practice positive habits (such as timely payments on your other debts) then it’ll go back up in no time.

    Yes, your credit score may drop temporarily if you pay off your student loan early but this should not stop you from paying it off early if it puts you in a better financial position to reach other goals...

    This is incredible! Creating emergency funds is a great way to get teens and tweens involved in the financial side of things.

    While it's not necessarily a skill, we've been creating emergency funds for our kids. Now that they are teen and tweens, there are so many more expenses like school trips, cars and more. These accounts are set up for us to help cover costs.

    If you are already maxing out your 401k and have at least 6 months worth of income saved in your emergency savings account, open a Roth IRA and start maxing that out. You'll be able to take the money out in retirement tax free!
