  1. Sadiq Khan has just announced that he has been "forced" to propose a £26 annual rise in council tax to help tackle violent crime in London. He has also given an extra £6.8 million for the violence reduction unit.

  2. Interesting. According to the dossier of disciplinary cases obtained by LBC, the allegations against Dr Gordon-Nesbitt were deemed serious enough to be referred to the National Constitutional Committee. That is the only body powerful enough to expel Labour party members.

  3. The debate is now about what is more important: Whether Jeremy Corbyn called the PM a "stupid woman". Or the fact 597 homeless people in England and Wales died on the streets last year. The two are completely distinguishable from each other but that will not matter.

  4. Office for National Statistics: There were an estimated 597 deaths of homeless people in England and Wales in 2017. That is an increase of 24% over the last five years.

  5. Tom Watson to on Corbyn row: "He went to the Despatch Box. He said he didn't say it. That's good enough for me." Ferrari: how should my listeners see politicians? Watson: "It's sad. I feel I'm in the middle of a big gang fight between every lip reader in the country."

  6. TfL's air quality plan is bad news for black cabs too. At the moment taxi drivers must renew their cabs every 15 years. That cut-off now reduced to 12 years. Severe effect on trade-in value of old cabs. Estimated total loss of equity for London's drivers: £180 million.

  7. Uber has not responded to the plans, which will be formally published later. But it has suggested to LBC its drivers could pay the charge themselves.

  8. Uber has c.40k drivers in London. Like other private hire vehicle operators, Uber has been exempt from the charge. But London mayor Sadiq Khan and TfL want to improve the city’s air quality. And so London’s 100,000 minicab operators will now be charged £11.50 a day.

  10. This section from Erskine May indicates the Government provides time to debate the Labour motion. From looking at the parliamentary calendar from now until Christmas, it's difficult to see where that time might come from. There is no Opposition time pencilled in either.

  12. Labour source: Corbyn will tell PM in his reply to her Commons statement that he will table a motion of no confidence in her leadership unless she announces a date for the meaningful vote. Me: do you have the numbers from angry Tories and DUP? Source: let’s see.

  14. Sunday Times reporting Number 10 considering 2nd vote with choice: May’s Deal or No Deal. Commons could then add remain. This would rely on Corbyn ordering his MPs to do exactly that. Gets May out of a jam. Risk question isn’t amended and UK votes to leave without a deal.

  16. Quick thought: 2nd ref doesn’t have to prevent Brexit. PM could demand poll with the Q: My deal or No deal? In her view that wouldn’t overturn 2016 result. And MPs could change the Q. Pressures Corbyn to put remain on the ballot paper. Needless to say v high risk.

  17. PM won't answer yes or no whether she is prepared for UK to leave the EU without a deal. you've had a trying week? I never said it was going to be easy. As you get close to the end you are absolutely sorting out the last details of something.

  18. PM: What was very clear from fellow EU leaders was that this could get over the line. EU27 conclusions takes us forward. This is the clearest statement yet from the EU that the backstop should never be necessary, she adds.
