In 1987, we got a flash of light from a supernova in the large magelanic cloud. About 8 months later, a ring of debris lit up, indicating a radius of 0.66 light years. The viewing angle of the ring is 0.808 arc seconds. 0.66 / tan(0.808/3600 * PI / 180) = 168484 light years.

Why is there something rather than nothing? Postulating an uber-complex mind that made it only makes the situation worse. So there's no reason we should exist. Therefore we don't exist.

A lot of "Christian morality" seems to be about imposing rules to constrain or making us feel bad about design flaws that would be the fault of our designer. Blame the designer then!

"All trans women are MEN" is an extreme & anti-empathic position to take. But so is "being transgender always leads to dysphoria, & the only valid gender affirming care is hormones & surgery." Hard to say what "gender" really is. But clearly something substantive is happening.

Examples: Some GC deny that trans is a thing & will ignore any science that says it is, e.g. hormones affecting brain & body differently in gestation. Some TRA also don't want to hear inconvenient science, e.g. that puberty blockers can make males permanently anorgasmic.

It's amazing how many people are totally unaware of arguments that go against their position and don't care to know, OR they completely distort the opposing position. Many creationists are like this. But I've also encountered a few trans activists and gender critical like this.

Why are people so worked up over who plays a fictional character? The actress needs to be able to sing well. And act. And look decent made up like a mermaid.... Which is a fictional thing. Were people bothered by Morgan Freeman as God?

So far, 100% of the time I have tried to debate someone on Twitter, they have declined or had some reason why they couldn't do it. Very disappointing. I'm not here to win or lose. I just want to participate.

It's amazing to listen to . The depth of his religious and philosophical knowledge is impressive, of course. But what's really amazing is his patience, his calmness, and his ability to engage with people of opposing viewpoints and get everyone to listen.

Even if God does exist, it's not obvious to me that God would care to have a relationship with us, or bother to create moral codes, etc. It seems more likely that people who want to follow or force others to follow a cherished moral code use "God" as a an excuse.

"All groups of people other than my own are completely homogeneous and can be described accurately in overly simplistic, broad-brush, and prejudicial terms."

Arguing with people on Twitter is mostly a waste of time, although it does, I think, help a bit with my mental health. But I absolutely marvel at the sheer magnitude of time waste that is "Globe busting." OMG. People dedicate their lives to this absolute insanity.

If we relieve ourseles Of our most erect Structures of race And rally Our warriors Of social justice Of the piece Where you lay to rest And quarter Note the square Root of all evil Corporations and partnerships Between logic transitive And verbs intransitive Sleep furiously.
Is it "vocal black-face" for a white person to quote a black actor's line from a movie in your best approximation of their speech patterns? youtube.com/watch?v=8mXacc Besides, who doesn't love the sounds of Eddie Murphy, Samuel L. Jackson, James Earl Jones, or Morgan Freeman?
I also love the double standard. When we refer to naturalism, they demand that we explain every chemical process. When we ask them to do the same, they act like we're being unreasonable.

“Account for every detail”, huh? Hahahaha. “Let’s just write off this gigantic problem as a little detail”, ahahahahahaha. I’m gonna mute now because this is too unserious.

I think I was polite enough, but yet another theist mutes me because I don't just blindly believe their god claims. I want to know why I should take their word on this, and they just make excuses.
