The ability to pass exams doesn’t have me worried yet, but ppl will definitely have to figure out how to do jobs alongside AI, and that future is coming faster than most ppl think. I’m more worried about what this says about the state of our education systems. 🙄

This isn’t entirely accurate. FTX was not ‘crypto’. It was a centralized exchange for crypto assets. Centralized services are the antithesis of core crypto values.

The early crypto skeptics deserve more credit. Not only did they call all of this, they did so in the face of constant shaming and harrassment. (Not to mention everyone pointing to the increasing value of their crypto wallets as evidence that they were wrong.)

Such a bananas statement from someone who wants to see more transparency in banking. Enforcement doesn’t solve the problem. Clear rules and regs so ppl can trust companies building crypto products in the US would do more to protect Americans and innovation in the US.

This is not to say that these platforms didn’t also create a lot of good - of course they did. Equal and opposite reactions and all that. But the negative things certainly were not a surprise to anyone with a pick and shovel.

I don’t believe for a second that there was ‘naivety’. The ppl responsible for building the biggest platforms knew exactly the kind of evil that could be unleashed with what they were creating. But they had investors, and shareholders, and stock options and here we are.

It’s pretty wild that this has to be said, but anti-semitism is disgusting. There is no debate about this. It’s repulsive. Standing in love and solidarity with Jewish folks everywhere, especially the ones I count as chosen family.
