In this paper is presented Cache-Out, a new transient execution attack that is capable of bypassing Intel’s buffer overriding countermeasures as well as allowing the attacker to select which cache sets to read from the CPU’s L1 Data cache.

Nasty, but not surprising. To mitigate properly, you probably need an L1D$ flush similar to L1TF, but done on every privileged transition. And then you also do an MDS style buffer clear

After 18 months, Intel is still trying to fix a security flaw in its chips known as MDS or "ZombieLoad"—now with a THIRD patch to cover yet another variant of the attack. Researchers point out they told Intel about the second & third variants a year ago.🤔

Just published a blog on INTEL-SA-00329 concerning L1D Eviction Sampling. This vulnerability has little to no impact in virtual environments that have applied L1 Terminal Fault mitigations.

Come by the Hardware Slacking assembly at and get valuable voltage glitching experience without the hard work! We'll also be running some slightly more serious mini-workshops. We finally pushed the source for our terrible (but super fun) glitcher to

1/ In a couple of weeks will be moving to a new, *much* smaller, building. This means, a *lot* of books have to be "re-homed" since there's not enough room for them. Let the book scavenging begin!
