Robert E. Lee was a traitor and a slaver. And as reminded us in 2017, “Lee’s elevation is a key part of a 150-year-old propaganda campaign designed to erase slavery as the cause of the war and whitewash the Confederate cause as a noble one.”

That the idea of redemption arc is framed as fanciful/unrealistic/unhealthy/crazy/worthy of scorn ONLY when it's tied to a female fantasy, on a story with no female creative input, is not a coincidence, and neither are the demographics of people responding negatively to my thread

Victor Hugo described his novel Les Misérables as a means of emotional support for people in desperate times. How did this tale become so ubiquitous? investigates on a new It's Lit!

The final entries in my series: a two part deep-dive on “Captain Marvel,” whose expressions of memory and military make for one big mess of a movie, where the hero feels disconnected from her own story Part 1 Part 2

  20. Okay a lot of people are here for a “no loud sounds” option and I’m just saying fight the real enemy - which is bad LTRT 5.1 conversions and lazy 5.1 home system conversions in general!
