while throwing it all in and going for getting cancelled once and for all -- ignoring the oversaturation of nostalgic media in an eternal cycle of remakes where nothing ever truly goes away, I think animaniacs, as a whole, is just not very good, nor is is suited for our time

anyway, obviously not a big deal, but I'm not looking forward to it and since it'll probably end up being pretty toothless since most geopolitics will be off limits and I don't think the comedy has aged well. but maybe they'll surprise me and have a fresh approach who knows

But let me just put it this way -- I think there's a reason the Animaniacs clips that have endured are the songs and clever plays on words, but not the skits themselves. Hopefully they'll play to that strength. Pinky and the Brain was never funny tho *SMOKE BOMB*

Pinky & the Brain feels like an exception to this, like the joke is usually on them
-
Fun fact: in France, Pinky & the Brain was *way* more popular than The Animaniacs.

It's the West Wing scene where Bartlet quotes the bible at that anti-abortion woman but for kids

people remember bugs putting one over on elmer fudd, but it's worth noting that many of bugs' shorts (like many trickster stories!) involve him thoroughly hoisting himself on his own petard it's not about how he's always the best--he is, often enough, as much a sucker as anyone
-
since I essentially wanted to grow up to be Bugs Bunny, I appreciate this distinction

in fairness bugs did that a little too. the one where he ruins a dam builder's life because his waterfall shower was damned up.
-
But out west with the water rights wars, the "little guy" was inherently provoked by the damn builders and their water grab. (To the point of bombing dams.)

I wouldn't share these worries if I wasn't also sure of how toothless the show will likely be. If they chose the right targets, the kind of comedy you're describing could be fun and even enriching. But so many corporate/political titans will be off limits.

oh yeah, like... what are they going to do, pull one over on trump, an actual fascist? is putin gonna get a wedgie?
