If it helps, katakana shapes are similar to kanji radicals, which helps with learning how kanji is pronounced! Sometimes Unless it’s in a compound word Or just because

It's a fun language! Kanji make pronunciation a pain, but they're so much easier to translate.

They help so much with sentences too. Irony is I can remember the meaning of kanji but not pronunciation so I can get the general idea without being able to technically speak it.
