I’ve combined my experience as a photographer and skills as a historian to tackle a contentious issue: what should be done about weddings at former slave labor camps? Check out my lastest for
Tonight, I am stepping out of my comfort zone. I've never played in a band or performed w/ my guitar on stage before. However, my cuz invited me to join him at a jam night at Brother's Lounge in Cleveland. It's time for me to plug in my @GretschUSA guitar + let it do the talking.

I’m thrilled to share my book review of Elliott West’s Continental Reckoning, published in The @CivilWarMonitor magazine/website. A hefty book, but one that’s important to the study of the American West.

Woohoo! I just sent a completed Ch3 to my advisor to read. This one was more challenging than I thought. AT least it's done and I can work on other things.
Happy #pubday to DUELING CULTURES, DAMNABLE LEGACIES: Southern Violence and White Supremacy in the Civil War Era by @WelbornTiger! Part of the series A Nation Divided: Studies in the Civil War Era. #readUP#twitterstorianshttps://upress.virginia.edu/title/5200/
I don’t know, most history PhDs I know went to schools that provide funding. You shouldn’t get a graduate degree if you have to pay for it. Now, this isn’t speaking about people who decide to try online school for history grad degrees…
As I sit here in the office bored and trying to kill time, I’m scouring my Twitter feed and realizing how many people completely wasted money on their Ph.Ds by proving to all that a piece of paper on the wall doesn’t make you less ignorant in the history field.
I'm honestly puzzled by the desire of western historians to tame the 1889-90 Ghost Dance,
making it into a religion of accommodation,
instead of (what I think it was), an anti-colonial movement.
A short thread:
History degrees are superbly transferable - you learn how to write, how to argue, how to critique, how to reframe, how to read, how to be empathetic to other perspectives, and how to understand why the world is as it is. It is not a “fluffy” subject
Happy Father's Day to my dad, Vic, who passed away in 2017. We miss him every day and wish he could be with us. Here's a photo of the two of us long ago on Mackinac Island, skipping rocks and enjoying life. #FathersDay2023
Over the last 2 days, I've added about 900 words to Ch3. I took about 3 weeks off + am trying to also give myself a break this Summer after working very hard over Fall/Spring. I have started a new goal to write 400-500 words daily, which is working nicely! #amwriting
Who among us has not accidentally published large chunks of an undergraduate's tutorial essay under our own name in a journal. Happens all the time, surely. Hard to think of any mistake easier to make, tbh
Someone should write on the state of golf courses and environmental history. An architect of the LA Country Club (hosting the #USOpen this weekend) talked abt how they designed the bunkers w/ erosion in mind to make them realistic. Just an interesting topic to explore, I think.
