There was a shooting outside my home yesterday. It was 3pm in broad daylight near the Panhandle. I was sitting in our front window when I heard 8+ shots and saw people running at the corner. 1/

My neighbor across the street is often outside with his young kids and when I heard him yelling “get back inside!!” I hit the floor. I knew my 10-month-old daughter was safe at the back of the house, so I stayed down. I heard a car screech down the street. 2/

Once everything was quiet, I went outside, along with many of my neighbors to see if anyone needed help. Remarkably, no bystanders were shot. Some parked cars had bullet holes in them, including two on either side of my building. 3/

Ritual Coffee took a bullet through their front window, but thankfully they had just closed and no one was hurt. I don’t know if the shooting was gang related or if it was a car theft gone wrong. I’m not sure how to feel about this. 4/

I don’t have a moral or takeaway, other than that I don’t know how to keep my kid safe in a city/country like this. I love San Francisco and this breaks my heart. Stay safe out there.
