I can tell a bunch of these retards didn’t even read the article they have to undergo psychological test and 144 hours of training then get approved by the local police department these dumbass liberals act like gun owners just want to kill people.

Police go through much more traning. Yet some of them behave poorly. Maybe people just think arming teachers is a bad ideas?
-
I’m glad you said because all that training be out the window as soon as someone is under stress or angry.
-
Or a mistake is made: -Student grabs for the weapon ever -Teacher snaps -Teacher sets weapon down -Accidental firing -Misidentifying a target in a crisis -being misidentified during a crisis by law enforcement The list goes on.
-
I wrote a report on this, the local law enforcement knows which teachers have fire arms, only the police and principles know which teachers have fire arms so kids wouldn't know. On range tests they have to have 85% accuracy compared to most L.E. at 75%. They're taking precautions
-
There can be plenty of precautions. The bottom line is the math. The chances of an accidental shooting by a teacher who is armed is >0%. It's 0% if there's no gun. Additionally, there is a significant change in culture that can happen once teachers are armed that isn't healthy
-
Accuracy is great. Training is great. Students not knowing is fine. But nothing is 100%. Additionally, if there were a shooting and said armed staff was not perceived to have acted well, there's a lot of blame that could be placed on them.

I would not send my kids to a school with teachers with guns. No way.
-
Insane.
-
It is insane that our children will be better protected against mass school shootings? Remember this, maniacs LOVE, "Gun Free Zones" If they know the staff is armed & will shoot back, that is the REAL "Safe Space"
#TheMoreYouKnow -
Will you still say this after the first teacher points a gun at a student?
-
Do you think they are going to hand out guns to teachers like a new box of chalk? There must be training and serious screening. Stop being so benighted!
-
Wait, training and serious screening? You mean like gun control?

Genuine practicality questions: If a teacher can have a gun at school, how easy would it be for a student or ill-intent person to get it? If it’s in a very secure location or unloaded to avoid the above, how useful will it be in the event of an emergency?
-
If it’s in a safe then it will take like 10 seconds to get it out. Would you rather have a gun after 10 seconds to protect yourself and your kids or sit in a room and throw books at a guy with a gun till cops show up 10 mins too late? Simple answer.
-
I read the article and it didn’t seem to mention safes- would those be required by this law as well? Or just an option we hope teachers take?
-
I work in education. In schools that do this there’s a safe in every class so you don’t know who has one and who doesn’t. It is a requirement here along with a ton of training and evaluations.
-
But that’s Texas and only a handful of school districts. Idk about other states.
-
Texas has decent gun laws though. Florida...not so much.
-
That’s true. I don’t personally care for guns but I think if this is going to become more widespread all states that do this need to have similar requirements.
