You go out, you farm n hours. Before the wowtoken could give you CoD, you could get X from your sales. Now you can only get X/2 maybe. That means you must farm for 2n hours.

Warcraft gold -> token -> battlenet balance -> new game - > gone. It does not go the other way.

You mention in your blog that internal and external economies are different. If they aren't the same there is an inbalance.

That doesn’t mean the gold is removed from the game. That means the price of the token changes over time. It’s still incorrect to say gold is removed. At least watch the video from

Pretty sure, overall, it's the other way around and there's a bit of gold creation with how the system has a "lock-in" price for token sellers.

its such a contraversial and interesting subject, I'm open to listening! (except when I'm told flat out that I'm bad and wrong)

Complex. Here's my econ-y perspective: Exchange rate of gold to items within the WoW economy increases when raw gold is introduced or items are removed. Nothing has changed. The exchange rate of gold-to-Dollars increases when gold is introduced or the token changed. Two markets.

The only word that seems to get lost in all of this is the 'value' of the token and the gold made in the game. 220k gold today will get you $15 dollars in value. In 3 months I expect it to end up being close to 235k gold needed to buy the same $15 dollars Value over removal

Whenever I hear "Value" tossed around I am reminded of the breakdown that shows the Bronto mount effectively costing $475 USD at the time the sums were calculated. Boy, that's sure some value.

$475 for some might be a days work at a good job. For some that's a week or months income. There is a small percentage of players that ever will buy the bruto mount. But there is a high percentage that pays for their monthly subscription for gold.
