Is he your friend? That's the question. If not, buy the stocks that are going to land a net gain.

He considers you a friend. You are ambivalent.

Buy his stock, I don't want to try to talk someone into staying then have them playing a game they no longer enjoy

I buy the stock. He'll be back in six months and will want the gold more than the laying-around junk, it's a win-win for both of us. No one ever truly quits, ten years playing and I know that to be fact.

Yes. This^^

I'd offer to buy his stock at a discount. Otherwise, I'd be a little concerned I'm being tricked ("for real, I'm totally quitting *Snicker*"). Unless I'm certain I'm getting a good deal I'd just quietly wait for them to leave, if they do

I'll ask him if he would be willing to sell his stock. I would hope he would give his gold to someone new/friend. I didnt have a competitor but I did have a nice guild member back in nilla who was leaving and he gave me all his herbs.

He told me to do with them whatever I want, most of them were high end herbs and sold great in the AH to get gold. He didnt have too, but he gave them all to me. That was back when I would give anyone the shirt off my back. His kindness. Its not like that now.
