Who cares. The person buying places the value on the item. The gold has little value. If you see something and buy it your already happy with the price. This goes the same with being able to say server first with x

This is less ethics in gold making & more ethics in economics! Pricing when there is no data is hard; even more so if it’s a random drop as we have in WoW - no costs to cover. From a vendor is trickier; how much profit do you want to make?
-
But the principle of “Buyer Beware” holds here; there are two sides to a transaction & if they’re happy to pay for it, who am I to stop them giving me gold? If the item becomes more readily available then prices will drop - joys of the market

I think you charge what you want and ppl pay what they want. After all, you both based your choices on what info you had, which was none. All we can do is our best and make changes when new info comes to light. The buyer decided to risk it. You're not responsible for their choice

The market is new. They're paying for 'I want the really new shiny'. On some level, this is a game. They can make up their gold, and you can enjoy it. I would probably offer a LOT guildies when the market crashes. Ex: Fiendish Leather. I was drowning in it, & EVERYONE needed rep.

Buyer knows. If they complain, return the gold, every copper.

If it's new and I couldn't find any data? I'd keep the gold. It's unusual behaviour, anyway, so I assume they took the same risk I did.
