I was discussing tonight with a group of gold farmers and a few gold makers about "they don't sell on my server" when one of them came up with an idea

It's not something I've ever done myself. But here it is, the tip. This works for selling rare, unique items, non transmog, items that you can't get elsewhere and are high value.

His plan, his tip, was to post these on a few realms at artificially inflated prices. How you get multiples of these super rare items I don't know, but it's his tip

Then you post your last item at "normal" price. How this tip works is you inflate the region data. I won't say "price" because it's perceived value, not price. This makes your normal item appear cheap, when it's not.

It's kinda bait n switchy. Which is probably why I haven't thought of it myself.

Maybe you could do this with pets, if you owned all the [Albino Buzzard] in the region then you could set your own value. Until someone else got one and under cut. Hard.pic.twitter.com/k8FD787Rfh

The take away from this Twitter thread is: Value is not the same as perceived value.

And you can influence perceived value

FWIW, this is a thing that happens in the EVE Online economy. But then, that game community encourages things that would lead to permabans rather quickly in WoW.
