Really stupid question, but how do I learn to put my own emotions into words? I've been conditioned to keep them suppressed so long, don't know how to begin.

Bit odd, but can be done in private. Get a doll, or toy. Call it your name. See if you feel protective to it, greedy for it, dismissive, see if that changes per day or after an event. Show carefulness towards it. Ponder what might make it's life better.
