Yes, Night's vertebra is severed clean in two. Last night there was no response from nerves, leading them to believe nerves were severed also. However...!

Or sedate-n-stitch, with nursing care, in an attempt to save the tail. If the muscles, nerves, blood supply are strong enough, it could heal "with a kink". Or it could fail and we go for amputation.

We are going to try and save it rather than go straight for amputation. She will have pain killers and all the love in the world as we attempt this.

She could still lose it, we will reassess after 3 days nursing. I'm guessing this will be by me at home

We got pet insurance after Ninja was hurt, you might remember it. I don't know what will or won't be covered and don't really care. I just want Night to be safe and well.

Yeh, I’m not sure it was as bad as hers but cats are amazing. My dad was a vet and said cats are the best at recovering from things.

My dad's cat also had her tail slammed in a door (the wind) and she's got the tail mostly back now (she was a kitten so her healing wasn't quite as good as an adults) :D your kitty will be fine!
