So kid 2 is failing all of his classes because he isn't doing the homework. The guidance counselor was like he's getting 100s on his tests, should we remove him from college prep classes so the work load is lighter?

So his tests scores show he's more than capable but you want to put him in an easier class? I said I'll ground him until his grades come up instead....

If he’s getting 100’s but not doing the homework ask the teacher to give him a unplanned test that’s not multiple answers or one that would of been given in the last 3 years. If he dose well then he needs more harder class work. Nicely done you may have a genius

He's autistic. Would technically fall into the aspergers category, he's just lazy...

Hi, so this was me at his age, and it wasn't laziness. I needed the homework laid out, pens out, no distractions, time set aside, and step by step instructions. Executive dysfunction makes things hard

With him, he says he doesn't think he should have to do work at home after school all day. So I just have to be a bit more firm with him on it. But that's a good idea to get his work completed. I have the perfect spot for him to do that.

Sounds like he views school as a chore rather than education as a lifestyle

Can only tell you what worked with mine. Which was include more documentaries, more teaching experiences, museums that sort of thing, and start applauding any out of school learning as vigorously as when teaching potty training.
