Age 14, I moved to a boarding school on a scholarship. The new art teacher asked me if I was any good. Wanting to delight and surprise him with my ability, I said no. Wow he'll be so happy when he finds out! 2/6

He never paid me any attention. He never checked my colour, perspective, my attention to detail. He spent his time coaching the guys with the big mouths and high hopes. 3/6

Less than 2 years later, I failed my art exam. I made fundamental mistakes, boredly using new mediums I didn't know how to use, without supervision. 4/6

Moral: If you don't stand up for yourself and say "hey I'm really good at this and want to be even better!" No one will give a crap. One more reason why I'm gold QUEEN. Own it 6/6
